The company is one of the world leaders for developing power and automation technologies. I work in a department, which specializes in the flow of liquid and gases. My responsibilities include developing embedded communication software such as developing a serial device driver, developing a transport/ protocol layer that communicates with device driver, developing test software, also developing sub-systems software for monitoring flow meter and supporting existing system software when required in an embedded C environment.

I have also worked in sub-sea oil gas exploration department, where my responsibilities included developing various drivers that communicate with various other sub-sea equipments such as flow meter, valve, choke, corrosion gauge etc. in an embedded object orient C++ environment.

Experience gained: Developing embedded multi-threaded software, design and developing in-house protocols, commercial protocols such as modbus, profibus, designing real time complex software, software design methodology (UML, Proseidon). I have also developed test harness software for system tests, knowledge of embos (real time operating system), IAR compiler, Hi-Tech emulator, SCADA system, and familiarity with Mitsubishi microprocessor. Employment period: January 2003- Current

Software Engineer J & S Marine, Barnstaple, Devon

The company develops software for marine equipment for defence project. My responsibilities included the design / development of PC based tools in C to allow diagnostic tests to be performed on an embedded system (RADAR detection). The software was developed under Labview CVI to produce a Motorola S record format which was downloaded on to a simulator and run. These tasks involved interfacing with other software design engineers. The work was documented using UML (Artisan) the tools maintained under Visual Source Safe version control. Experience gained: Analysis/structured design/ UML (Artisan) /Coding/debugging/Lab View CVI/ TCP/IP /UDP protocol. Employment period: August 2002- July 2003

Software Engineer Lucent Technologies, Malmesbury, Wiltshire

This company provides turnkey solutions for telecommunication providers. I worked in the Intelligent Network Department, where I was responsible for development of new features for pre paid mobile phone and maintenance. Responsibilities included developing software for a SIM card programmer and billing software. The software was developed on a UNIX platform using a relative of C/C++ Experience gained: Telecommunications principles, design, development C/C++ relative. Employment period: July 2002- Sept 2001

Software Engineer Xerox, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire

This company develops multi functional photocopiers. Responsibilities included design /development of the diagnostics and fault handling capabilities for a new range of photocopiers, and supporting existing system software when required. This used object oriented techniques and UML design tools and was developed for a RTOS platform. The main language used in this embedded development was C++. Also VC++ was used for the development of host based test tools. Experience gained: Analysis, structured design, coding, debugging and unit / integration testing in C++ UML (Artisan) /Trace32 emulator for debugging. The RTOS used in this project was VxWorks. Employment period: January 2000 - June 2001

Software Engineer Schneider Electric, Chippenham, Wiltshire The main business of this company is to develop protocols on a telemetric system. A communication system was developed by a team of thirty where an embedded tele-controller was used for medium and high voltage distribution equipment in the electrical distribution industry. My job included coding, debugging, testing, writing software specifications, bug fixing etc for various projects. The language used was C in an embedded environment. Also Visual C++ was used in the development of a configurator for a telemetric system and a data language derived in house to test the functionality of subsystems. Experience gained: Embedded C/ VC++/RTOS/ Communication Protocol Employment period: September 1997 to December 1999
